CompareSMS reviews and compares SMS providers in the Australian market. We started it because comparing providers here is unnecessarily hard: published rates assume volumes most businesses never hit, some providers bundle messages into monthly plans while others sell a rate against a top-up, and at least one bills in a different currency. The fees that decide the real total are usually a page or two deeper into the pricing docs.
What we cover
Australia has a mix of large local providers, resellers of those providers, and global platforms with an Australian presence. They differ in ways that matter once you are sending in volume:
- Pricing structure: per message, per message part, and how rates step down as monthly volume increases.
- Routing: whether the provider holds direct carrier connections or resells someone else’s, which affects both deliverability and price.
- API capability: batch sending, delivery receipts, inbound replies and webhook reliability.
- Compliance: sender ID rules, opt-out handling, and the obligations under the Australian industry code for SMS.
How we research
We work from published pricing, provider documentation and hands-on use of the APIs, and we say when a provider is a sub-brand or reseller of a larger network, since that usually explains both its pricing and its delivery performance.
Reviews get revisited as pricing and products change. Where we are not confident about a detail, we leave it out rather than guess.
